Sorry, I couldn’t help myself but as a Fashion Designer I’m always thinking about style + clothes so the Olympics is a completely different type of viewing experience for me. Not only am I engrossed in the competition, I’m judging heat seal Swarovski, crushed 4-way stretch velvet, and necklines on jerseys while being really confused by the print placement and color combinations for the uniforms from Spain and Russia. So OF COURSE when I saw Michael Phelp’s momma Debbie last night on NBC, all I could think about was STATEMENT JEWELRY with a vision of Janet Jackson from “That’s The Way Love Goes” with the African influenced choker and vest. As a fan of statement jewelry, I definitely approve. Thanks momma Phelps for not wearing a hoodie and accessorizing accordingly. Stay tuned for more Olympic style coverage from yours truly.

After the most confusing Olympics opening ceremony I’ve ever seen (A cross between the intro of “Game of Thrones” with scenes from “The Hunger Games” and “Lord of the Rings” + Ipod commercials) I came across the best Olympics hairdo.
Lauren Jackson of the Australian Women’s Basketball team sporting what I am calling a “Bunny Tail” takes the Gold. This rad style with bleached blonde tresses screams retro Madonna and my personal favorite Romy White from the beloved “Romy and Michelle’s Highschool Reunion”. Although glitter hair on gymnasts is high up on the list, I wanted to give props to Miss Jackson for her originality in a very plain pony-tail centric event of the Olympics. Work It Lauren.
