This is my favorite fashion moment of all time. Shalom Harlow from Alexander McQueen’s S/S 1999 Collection “The Girl and The Robot”. Always and forever inspiring.
I was working on the “Widows of Culloden” Collection as an Intern at McQueen’s 10 Amwell Street studio. That particular day, they pulled this dress from the archives downstairs in all of its neon yellow and jet black painted glory. It seemed to take on its own form on the hanger with its juxtaposing elements of structure and softness from the gathered silhouette. All the other Interns stopped working and just stared, mouths agape at the sole presence of this dress as everyone else in the studio carried on. Finally someone just breathed out “It’s that dress” as we all replayed Shalom Harlow being spray painted by robots in our heads.

It’s so much fun to see my friends wearing SENA clothes and to see how they incorporate it into their own personal styles. So it was awesome to see my friend and fellow RISD alum Scarlett rocking a pair of SENA Vegan Leather Skinnies with a Thomas the Fourth bag (that is also the creation of another RISD alum) on a lunch date. Scarlett is the Designer and Founder of an adorable children’s wear line called OPUS available at Shop Opus, check it out!
